An integral member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Senior Manager of Golf will be responsible for providing leadership and operational direction for all aspects of Golf operations at the Miskanaw Golf Club (Club) located at MacDonald Island Park. As Senior Manager of Golf, your leadership and vision will ensure the delivery of a world class Golf experience and service to members and their guests, while ensuring the policies and best interests of the Club and Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) are met or exceeded and protected. The role of the Senior Manager of Golf is responsible for recommending strategy, establishing and implementing company driven standards, sourcing resources, maintaining a safe environment, supporting and developing subordinate team members, while improving bottom line profitability through appropriate revenue and cost management.


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop short term and long term financial and operational plans for the Golf operations to support the overall objectives of the RRC.
  • Assist in preparing the strategic plan and achieve the annualGolf operation goals and targets set therein
  • Prepare annual budgets and administer in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Responsible for prudent management of business expenses and financial management of the Club, including adherence to budget and reporting on status, monitoring the budget and directs corrective action procedures as necessary to help assure that budget goals are maintained.
  • Ability to devise and monitor all aspect of Golf operations, actual and projected sales to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded and opportunities are identified and addressed.
  • Lead all Golf operations including managing all members and Golf play, lessons, programming, tournaments, merchandising, the Pro Shop and bag storage, carts, staff supporting Golf related activities, and other services that are related to all player segments.
  • Proven ability to create a service culture that consistently produces the highest level of service in a dynamic and diverse membership environment, along with being and exceptional player with the ability to interact and engage with all player segments.
  • Evaluate and set appropriate and necessary standard of operation, execution and delivery within the Golf operation; which entails taking ownership for the entire experience from arrival through departure.
  • Develops and implements continuous improvement processing areas of responsibility based on industry best practices and financial requirements of the Club.
  • Actively look to grow outing rounds/revenue at the Club through outside sales and retention.
  • Lead merchandising for Pro Shop, providing the best selection possible at the highest margins possible given merchandise turnover goals.
  • Supervise weekly and monthly physical inventories of merchandise and the display of merchandise.
  • Support internal stakeholders in the preparation of marketing plans to maximize profits for the Golf operations.
  • Ability to manage, select talent, train and develop the Golf team to ensure the success of the business.
  • Ensure that all health and safety policies are implemented and adhered to within the Golf operations.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with department policies and procedures as well as local, provincial and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging services.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO.




  • Class ‘A’ PGA certification held in good standing status
  • An undergraduate or higher degree from an accredited college, with major course work in Golf administration, business administration or in another closely related field


 Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years progressive experience in Golf course management
  • Extensive Golf operations experience ( a minimum of 10 years of operational experience)
  • Demonstrated leadership including experience coaching and developing direct reports
  • Proven record of providing superior member/guest experience
  • Extensive knowledge in managing Golf costs
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining call and courteous at all times
