    The Junior Arts Camp Leader reports to the Visual Arts Program Coordinator. This position will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of arts camp programs offered by the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. The Junior Arts Camp Leader will be respectful of program participants and will be responsible for making sure that the activities and areas remain clean, safe, and well maintained. This position will require an individual to exemplify exceptional customer service and will be an important role amongst the Arts & Culture Department.


    Position Type: 1 seasonal Position Available

    Anticipated Start Date: July 16, 2018

    Anticipated End Date: On or before August 31st, 2018

    Pay Rate: $16.35 per hour

    The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo, is a not-for-profit company, operating recreational facilities in the Wood Buffalo Region. The flag ship complex, MacDonald Island Park is Canada's largest community recreational, leisure, and social centre. Home to the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, Miskanaw Golf Club and Shell Place, MacDonald Island Park works under the umbrella of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. 


    • Guide participants in day-to-day age appropriate activities lead by the Art Instructor
    • Promote fun, learning, respect and team work
    • Provide a safe and secure environment with respect to the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo’s policies and procedures
    • Assist with set up, take down and cleaning of supplies
    • Supervise students and enforce rules in the classroom
    • Provide parents and participants with information regarding staff, scheduling, expectations, services, and planned activities
    • Provide exceptional customer service to all guests
    • Complete additional projects as assigned by the Art Instructor



    • Current Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or equivalent (including CPR C)


    • Minimum completion of Grade 10
    • Must be 15 years of age or older.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Basic Visual Art skills and knowledge
    • Previous babysitting or instructor experience
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Possesses strong leadership skills
    • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills
    • Ability to engage in continuous learning and on the job training

    Desirable Skills and Experience:

    • Experience with working with children of different ages and abilities
    • Experience in customer service would be an asset


    • This position requires part time work and a flexible schedule including early morning, late night, and weekend work.
    • This position may include heavy lifting of supplies and equipment and may be exposed to loud noises and will require an individual to be able to concentrate in a busy environment.
    • This position will also require a security clearance if applicable.
