     The Shift Coordinator for Safety Security in responsible to ensure, maintain and improve the safety and security of all internal/external stakeholders, facilities and properties. Reporting to the Manager, Safety Security this individual will patrol, inspect, report on and correct any safety/security concerns noted within the facility or on the grounds. Through inspection and patrol while utilizing the current property management, reporting and auditing systems employed by the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo this position will enhance the organizations safety and security. This position will be proactive and prepared for anticipated and unanticipated situations that may create danger or cause harm. Responsible for all emergency response, evacuation and first aid response for patrons, employees and stakeholders while on property.

     

    Position Type:  1 Regular Fulltime Position Available

    Shift: 7 on 7 off / nights and days

    Pay Rate: $26.00

    Anticipated Start Date: May 21, 2018

    The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo, is a not-for-profit company, operating recreational facilities in the Wood Buffalo Region. The flag ship complex, MacDonald Island Park is Canada's largest community recreational, leisure, and social centre. Home to the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, Miskanaw Golf Club and Shell Place, MacDonald Island Park works under the umbrella of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. 

    Responsibilities

    • Indoor/Outdoor facility surveillance of any and all Regional Recreation Corporation facilities
    • Foot/Vehicle patrol of property(s) grounds
    • Regular travel between RRCWB facilities
    • Ensuring all employees and patrons are safe and secure
    • Assist Manager in ensuring that all employees have the valid/appropriate training and certifications required to complete their tasks
    • Assist with all safety orientations and refresher training required for employees, contractors and required stakeholders
    • Plan and assist in the facilitation of monthly departmental staff meetings
    • Take an active role in reporting concerns to the organizations Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
    • Represent and Encourage safety culture within the organization. Act as a role model for employee & patron conduct
    • Complete and when necessary assist in incident investigations and documentation applying applicable corrective actions
    • Utilization of the RRCWB’s current reporting program Q5
    • Communication with patrons, community members, guests, employees and all other internal/external stakeholders while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
    • First responder for all emergency situations including but not limited to first aids, evaluations, confrontations, external/internal threats
    • Complete all Safety reporting & documentation
    • Assist in the COR Auditing process as well as internal safety auditing
    • Complete regular safety inspections
    • Utilize FAME to submit, track and finalize all items related to maintenance management
    • Action any findings to the appropriate stakeholder and follow up on resolution
    • Ensure that the proper reporting procedures are follow for all incidence and injuries
    • Remain current and up to date with knowledge of all laws and legislations applicable to the work place, a publically run facility, employees, patrons and the general public who visit RRCWB facilities
    • Assist Manager in the communicate any and all changes to process, procedure, legislation or policy as it pertains to safety/security
    • Assist Management to ensure that each department and facility area are knowledgeable of all aspects of policy/process as it relates safety/security
    • Assist in preparing all client groups for internal/external audits and inspections
    • Support internal/external stakeholders in ensuring workplace health, safety and security
    • Other duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications

    Education & Certifications:

                   

    • Completion of an undergraduate degree or higher
    • Completion of 2 year OHS college or university certification
    • Certification/Diploma in police/criminal studies
    • Licensed Provincial Security Guard
    • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
    • First Aid Certification/CPR and AED

     

    Essential Skills and Experience:

     

    • 3+ years of progressive experience in a Safety/Security role
    • Exceptional communication & customer service skills
    • Proven amicable de- escalation techniques and skills
    • Strong investigation and report preparation skills
    • Advanced literacy and computer skills
    • Time management
    • Expedited response time while making calculated decisions
    • Attention to detail

     

    Desirable Skills and Experience:

     

    • Previous experience in law enforcement consider an asset
    • OH&S background
    • Previous professional experience in Safety Advising role

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS &WORKING CONDITIONS:

     

    • Working for extended duration in fluctuating indoor/outdoor temperature conditions
    • Long durations of time working on your feet
    • Ability to patrol continuously for multiple hours at a time
    • Shift work
    • Day & Night shifts
    • Ability to climb stairs/sit/stand/kneel/crawl
    • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
