  • Overview

    The Sport & Fitness Specialist reports to the Facility Manager Conklin at the Conklin Multiplex. This position will assist with the coordination and operation of sport and recreation leagues, tournaments and events for a variety of age groups in the community of Wood Buffalo as well as supervising and tending to the Total Fitness Centre and its inclusions within the RRC. This position holds a high level of responsibility within the day-to-day operations of the Sport & Recreation Department and must demonstrate exemplary level of customer service.

     

    Please note that this position is located at the Conklin Multiplex located at Conklin, Alberta. 

     

    Position Type: 2 Part-Time Positions Available

    Location:  Conklin Facility

    Anticipated Start Date: August 16, 2018

    Pay Rate: $26.80 ($1 less during probationary period)

    Closing Date: October 20, 2018

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with daily administration of sport services operations including daily activity schedules, set up and take down of equipment and supervision of program registrants
    • Assist with tournament draws and set up
    • Act as a resource for sport and recreation events and problem solving as required
    • Assist with set up, take down and cleaning of sport programs equipment or supplies
    • Assist with sport programs and enforce rules for all guests
    • Provide exemplary customer service to all patrons while ensuring all of our policies and procedures are adhered to in a safe and secure environment
    • Oversee check-ins, selling day passes, cash-outs along with the marketing of group fitness classes, personal training services and other programming that is offered
    • Assist with scheduling of sport activities
    • Guide participants in day-to-day activities and create age appropriate activities that promote fun, learning and development
    • Track inventory, supplies and ensure equipment maintenance schedules and service cycles are being followed through the continuous monitoring of the fitness centre and running track
    • Assist in selling MIKids clothing through the POS system
    • Assist with planning appropriate equipment and supplies
    • Provide exceptional customer service to teams, guests, and all patrons
    • Participate in regular staff meetings and update department on new programs, leagues, events, and successes
    • Participate in scheduled training sessions, orientations, department meeting, provide updates and liaise with all department staff
    • Liaising with sport and recreation user groups
    • Assist with bookings using our internal programming software CLASS as needed

     

    All other duties assigned by your supervisor and/or manager

     

     

    Qualifications

    Certifications:               

    • Current Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or equivalent (including CPR C)

    Education:

    • High School Diploma 

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Minimum 1 year experience demonstrating a high level of maturity, responsibility, customer service, and leadership skills
    • Knowledge of numerous sport activities
    • Experience liaising with cultural groups
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and oral skills
    • Possess strong organizational  and supervisory skills
    • Ability to work with Word, Excel, and Outlook, and PowerPoint 

    Desirable Skills and Experience:

    • High Five Quest Certification
    • Everybody Gets to Play Certification
    • NCCP Level Certification 

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS &WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • This position requires Part time work and a flexible schedule including early morning, late night, and weekend work.
    • This position may include heavy lifting of supplies and equipment and may be exposed to loud noises and will require an individual to be able to concentrate in a busy environment.
    • This position may require travel between our various facilities within the Wood Buffalo Region. Access to reliable transportation is necessary.
